We've got BIg news...

Picture

We know, especially through caring for children, that all things change and grow. The same holds true for AEYC. Established in 1982, we've served Southeast Alaska as the regional childcare resource and referral hub through developing and offering a variety of programs. We've grown and changed over the past 43 years, and we're ready for an identity that better reflects our work.

Please join us in celebrating our new name:
Southeast Childhood Collective.

A New Name, the Same Mission
Our transition to Southeast Childhood Collective reflects our ongoing commitment to children, families, and educators while emphasizing collaboration and community impact. We continue to provide tools, resources, and guidance to nurture children’s development and strengthen bonds.

Why 'Collective'?
Working together brings success. We wanted a name that acknowledges that we are in this work together. The word 'collective' reflects our combined efforts.

Our collaborations with you enable us to support parents as the child's first and most important teacher, enrich the quality of care and education in early learning programs, and mobilize community support to ensure all children have the resources they need to grow and thrive. Take a look at the  digital story  about our name-change journey.

Soon, we'll have a new website, www.childhoodcollective.org. Don't worry, we'll help you find us! In the meantime, our resources on this site remain available for you. Love our new logo and our t-shirt? We'll have them for sale soon. Stay tuned!

More Big News! We are developing a Childcare and family center

Picture
We were awarded $5M from Senator Lisa Murkowski to build a multi-agency nonprofit childcare and family center. This project is a long-held vision of SEAAEYC and the Juneau Partnerships for Families and Children, a group of nonprofit and state agencies whose programs support families. The center is being developed to meet the needs of families in the community, with an emphasis on resources for children ages 0-8.

SEAAEYC and the Juneau Partnerships for Families and Children have collaborated around family supports for over 26 years, but services are spread across the community and sometimes hard for families to navigate. The partners offer a variety of programs including parenting classes, developmental screenings, kindergarten readiness strategies, early literacy opportunities, family fun nights, mental health consultations, and community networking opportunities. We are excited to bring all of these resources together under one roof to better serve Juneau’s families.

The space is envisioned to include; offices, a child care facility, lending library, commercial kitchen and dining hall, meeting spaces for events and trainings, children’s art studio, community gardens, an indoor playground, and a children’s museum. Click here to take a look at the concept drawings of the Family Center.

As we move forward with this project, we will be reaching out to community members to learn about what offerings they would like to see included in the building. If you are interested in supporting this project, stay tuned for details about our capital campaign.
